Pick your medium, mood and aesthetic — get a tailored art prompt, colour palette, artist references, films, music and reading list in seconds. Or let your natal chart write your next brief.
"The Pinterest searches alone make this worth it. The briefs — films, books, culturally relevant references matched to my medium — give me such an awesome starting point when I feel at a loss for inspo."
A glimpse — yours also includes artist references, films, music, poetry and a reading list.
SALT MARSH AT LOW TIDE
Paint the moment the water retreats and leaves behind something unexpected — a reflection, a colour, a creature that doesn't belong. Work wet-on-wet; let the edges go wherever they want.
"Wet your whole sheet first. Drop raw umber along the horizon line and walk away for three minutes."

By using The Artist Block ("the platform", "this site"), you agree to the following terms. Please read them — they're short and written in plain English.
You may not reproduce, copy, or distribute the platform, its interface, or its underlying prompts without written permission.
2. YOUR GENERATED CONTENT
The creative briefs, colour palettes, and recommendations generated for you are yours. You can use them however you like — for personal projects, client work, exhibitions, commercial use — with no attribution required. We make no claim over what you create using this tool.
3. REFERENCE IMAGES
Images displayed on your board are sourced from third-party APIs including Unsplash, Pexels, museum collections (Tate, MoMA, V&A, Art Institute of Chicago, Harvard Art Museums, Europeana), and others. Each image is subject to its own licence. Attribution is shown when you click an image. We do not host these images — they are fetched directly from their original sources.
If you upload your own reference images, they are processed in your browser only and are never stored on our servers.
4. YOUR LICENCE KEY
Each subscription grants access to one person. Subscriptions are non-transferable and may not be resold, gifted to multiple people, or shared publicly. We reserve the right to revoke access if a subscription is being misused.
5. AI-GENERATED CONTENT
Briefs are generated using the Anthropic Claude API. While we prompt for accuracy, AI can occasionally produce incorrect information — for example, a book or film that doesn't exist, or an artist attribution that's imprecise. Always verify recommendations before relying on them professionally.
6. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
The Artist Block is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. We are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the platform, including — but not limited to — loss of data, creative decisions made based on generated content, or service interruptions.
7. CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these terms occasionally. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
This Privacy Policy explains how The Artist Block ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses and protects information when you use artistblock.art. We keep it short and plain English.
1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT
Account information. When you subscribe via Stripe, Stripe collects your email address and payment details. We receive your session ID and email address to create your account. We do not store your payment card details.
Password. If you create a memorable password, we store a one-way cryptographic hash of it (not the password itself) in our database. We cannot recover your password from this hash.
Usage data. We may collect basic, anonymised usage data (e.g. which features are used) to improve the product. This does not identify you personally.
Email address. If you sign up for the free sample brief via our mailing list, your email is stored by Kit (formerly ConvertKit) and governed by their privacy policy.
2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
We use the information we collect to:
Verify your subscription and grant access to the platform
Save your briefs and notes to your account
Send occasional product updates if you opted in via our mailing list
Improve the platform based on usage patterns
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
3. THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policy:
Stripe — payment processing and subscription management
Anthropic (Claude API) — AI generation of creative briefs. Your inputs (medium, mood, aesthetic, seed ideas) are sent to Anthropic to generate your brief. We do not send personal identifying information.
Supabase — secure database storage for saved briefs and password hashes
Unsplash / Pexels / Flickr — image sourcing for your moodboard
Kit (ConvertKit) — email list management (only if you subscribed for a sample brief)
Netlify — website hosting and serverless functions
4. COOKIES
We use localStorage (browser storage) to keep you logged in between sessions and to save your notes locally. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising.
5. DATA RETENTION
Your saved briefs are retained in our database while your account is active. You can delete individual briefs from My Briefs at any time. If you would like all your data deleted, contact us at artistblock2026@gmail.com and we will remove it within 30 days.
6. YOUR RIGHTS
Depending on where you live, you may have rights including access to your data, correction, deletion, and data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at artistblock2026@gmail.com.
7. CHILDREN
The Artist Block is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
8. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here with a revised date. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
